Save on heating and cooling costs by sealing air leaks

Reducing the amount of air that leaks in and out of your home is a cost-effective way to cut heating and cooling costs, improve durability, increase comfort, and create a healthier indoor environment.

The effective air-sealing techniques that Hytech applies on your home, offer quick returns on investment, often one year or less.

A "leaky" house causes higher energy bills and allows excess moisture and contaminants to enter the home. The places where air leaks into a house are often hidden from view. Hytech finds all air leaks and seals them regardless of how well hidden they may be.

Air Leakage

Air leakage occurs when outside air enters and conditioned air leaves your house uncontrollably through cracks and openings. It is unwise to rely on air leakage for ventilation. During cold or windy weather, too much air may enter the house. When it's warmer and less windy, not enough air may enter, which can result in poor indoor air quality. Air leakage also contributes to moisture problems that can affect occupants’ health and the structure’s durability. An added benefit is that sealing cracks and openings reduces drafts and cold spots, improving comfort.

Sealing a home’s envelope — its exterior walls, ceiling, and floors — is an important step in controlling the indoor environment and lowering energy bills. The goal is to reduce air leakage as much as possible, while providing ventilation as needed for fresh air.

Benefits of Air Sealing

Sometimes it's difficult not to stress the importance of certain home upgrades such as air sealing and for that we want to recap why is important that Hytech Air-Seals your home.

  • Lower Utility Bills. Air leakage and improperly installed insulation can waste 20 percent or more of the energy used to heat or cool a home. With effective air sealing and insulation, heating and cooling systems will not need to work as hard
  • Improved Comfort. Drafts felt during the winter are often the result of unsealed cracks and holes. Sealing homes tightly typically results in fewer drafts and less noise.

  • Increased Durability. When warm air leaks through a home’s floors, walls, and attic, it can come in contact with cooler surfaces where condensation can occur. Moisture that occurs in these construction assemblies encourages mold growth, ruins insulation, and even compromises the structural elements of the home.Reducing air leakage helps minimize moisture problems and increase the home’s durability.
  • Improved Indoor Air Quality. A tighter home envelope reduces the amount of humidity, dust, pollen, and pests that can enter the home and helps improve indoor air quality.

Hytech Solar did such a great job on the install. They were on time and did a great job of setting up and getting their work done. They were also really fast and clean during the whole process. Sean was also great in communicating with me from the beginning of the process until the end to make sure that I was up to date with the process. Definitely recommend getting your work done through them.

From the initial contact with David who approached us to see if we had interest in solar, to the meeting with Sean who explained the process, financials and savings and then today when the install team did an amazing job with the installation which was like watching a well oiled NASCAR pit crew, they were all amazing. Everyone was courteous, professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Looking forward to not writing a check to PSE&G anymore. This been a wonderful experience and I would suggest if you don’t have Solar to contact HyTech Homes and start saving as soon as you can.
